Splendid Isolation

carberr

above: taken near Carberry this afternoon.

I’ve changed the lyrics (slightly) in Warren Zevon’s song to : I want to live in the Carberry desert. I want to live like Ernest Thompson Seton.

Seton, of course, was the famed naturalist who developed his intense naturalist skills, writing and drawing in the Carberry desert area where his brothers had homesteaded in the 1880’s.

Seton influenced and nurtured many children’s imaginations, including one by the name of Pete Seeger, who passed away today. To influence someone as influential as P.S. ….. now that’s sumthin!
